Yoga has played a special role in my recovery from burnout. It helped me reconnect with my body after spending so much time pushing through and ignoring what I actually needed.
Because our bodies often have a lot to tell us. Sometimes, before we even realize we're stressed or overwhelmed, our body is already giving us little signs. This can show up in many different ways, from a tightness in the shoulders to a shallow breathing or even getting sick. Yoga has taught me to slow down, notice those signs and listen to what my body might be trying to tell me.
During my own burnout recovery, I completed a yoga teacher training which opened my eyes to all of this. There is so much more to yoga than just the asanas (the physical postures). The breath, the awareness, the connection between body and mind, and learning to be present with yourself.
Today, yoga is still something I come back to and something I love sharing as a teacher. My classes are an invitation to reconnect with yourself, exactly as you are. You’re always welcome to join me on the mat.
